The IMPS painting collection is the most extensive archive of our century-old history. The painting collection of the museum includes; The Elvah-ı Nakşiye collection, which consists of 141 pieces and is the first collection created outside the palace, works belonging to Osman Hamdi Bey, the founder of Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi; works by important artists of the 19th century landscape and figure painting, artists of the 1914 generation and the 1920s to 1940s, works by painters working in the late Cubist and Art Deco style who were active until the 1950s, and works by important artists and artist groups of Turkish painting in the Republican period from the 1950s to the 1980s, when the abstract style began to emerge.
